Shopify's hard limits are generous: up to 5000x5000 pixels and under 20MB per image. In practice, you rarely need the maximum.
Blur happens when the uploaded image doesn't have enough real pixels for the space it's displayed in, or when an app compresses too aggressively before upload.
We're preparing a deeper guide on Dawn blur troubleshooting and theme-specific examples, which will live under our Shopify image guides section.
Aspect ratio is what keeps your collection pages from looking messy. Mixing tall, wide, and square images in the same grid usually leads to jumpy layouts, and sometimes blur when Shopify has to upscale.
The key is consistency: pick one ratio for your main product photography and normalize everything to match. This resizer's aspect-ratio mode is built exactly for that job.

Shopify stores need images that work well on both mobile and desktop devices:
This free image resizer helps Shopify merchants optimize product images for their storefronts. The tool runs entirely in your browser, so no images are uploaded to our servers. You can batch resize images, convert formats, apply aspect ratios, and export everything as a ZIP file ready for Shopify upload—all while keeping your images private and secure on your device.
Yes. We use the Canvas API in your browser to read, resize, and export images. The ZIP file is assembled locally and offered as a download, and nothing is uploaded to our servers.
You can upload JPG, PNG, and WebP files. For exports, you can choose JPG (ideal for product photos) or PNG (better for graphics or where transparency is needed).
For most themes, 2048x2048 is enough for a good zoom experience. If your theme supports very large zoom panels and you sell high-detail products, you might go up to 3000x3000.
It can't change your theme settings, but it gives you the correct export sizes. If you match your exports to roughly 2x the display width used in your Dawn sections, blur should be eliminated.
Yes. The presets are opinionated around Shopify, but the canvas resizer and ZIP export will work fine for any storefront as long as you respect that platform's size recommendations.
JPG exports use a quality slider so you can pick the trade-off you want. The defaults aim to balance clarity and file size; you can increase quality if you see visible artifacts.
